A lifelong lover of art and drawing, Linda began instruction in charcoal sketching at her local art center in 1998. She began painting in the Atelier style of classical realism in early 2000 and has continued to refine her technique with workshops at the Atelier School of Realism in Minneapolis and the Joe Paquet Studio in St. Paul. Retiring recently from a twenty-five year career as a public health nutritionist has allowed Linda to pursue oil painting as a second vocation.

Linda enjoys the wonderful malleability and luminescence of oils and is inspired by all types of surroundings. "Everywhere I look I find beauty, whether it be a seemingly mundane collection of objects, an everyday street scene, a commonplace stand of birch trees, or a child gazing in wonderment at a new toy. I find great joy in celebrating the beauty around us with a two dimensional creation that invites the viewer to journey in and make an emotional connection. Working with color, shapes, and composition to conjure up a mood, a pleasant experience, or a thought-provoking concept is both highly rewarding and motivating. I love painting all subjects, but my favorite is portraiture. The challenge of capturing the complex essence and spirit of a person with only paint and canvas is truly exhilarating."

In the early summer of 2006, Linda moved from Minneapolis to the north woods of Minnesota, where she maintains a permanent studio and displays her work in local galleries. She welcomes commissioned work of any subject matter.
